What Congenital heart  surgeons do?

Defects in the heart can occur as the child is developing in the mother's womb.
They can vary from holes in the heart to complex birth defects threatening the baby’s life immediately after birth.
Commonly noticed symptoms are feeding difficulty, excessive sweating during feeds, increased precordial movement, rapid and shallow breathing, poor weight gain, and repeated respiratory tract infections. Some complex anomalies present at birth with
bluish discolouration of the lips and fingers needing urgent corrective surgery. Addressing each of these issues in children to counselling parents and family is a very important step toward corrective surgery in babies. Dedicated and experienced pediatric heart surgeons, anesthesiologists, and ICU care nurses all form part of the team which are required to perform such complex and
delicate corrective surgeries in babies.
